Jeff and Kat Mathena hosted their first prayer room in the fall of 2023 in their living room. What began as a handful of people gathering in worship and prayer quickly grew into a monthly rhythm—an ongoing invitation for believers to encounter Jesus in a way that is simple, authentic, and unhindered.

Unhindered Prayer exists to create spaces where the Church can meet with God without pretense or performance, and to train others to plant prayer rooms in their own cities. At the center of every gathering is the same priority: cultivating authentic encounter with the presence of Jesus through worship and prayer.

Jeff brings a unique background as a voice coach to many of today’s most influential worship leaders—including Kari Jobe, Phil Wickham, and the team at Bethel Music. His heart is to see the same passion for excellence in music joined with a deeper hunger for God’s presence in the Church.
Kat is a homeschooling mother whose greatest desire is to make space for the Holy Spirit in her own home. Out of that place of intimacy and family worship, she now carries a vision to help others discover the simplicity and beauty of encountering God together.
